PHYS 486       (3-0-3)             System Interfacing & Sensors

A course on interfacing techniques applicable to microcomputers. Topics include: description of bus; timing analysis; serial and parallel interfacing; polling and interrupts; counters and interval timers; A/D and D/A conversion; interfacing to magnetic devices; Direct Memory Access (DMA) techniques; study of some types of sensors and systems.

Prerequisites: PHYS 384, PHYS 487 (concurrent).
